The laboratory was founded in 1996. The laboratory is a structural unit of the Chemical Technology Faculty of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute.
In 1997, the laboratory was first certified by Ukrmetrteststandard. Scope of certification: water analysis and research of materials for water purification.
The laboratory was the first and currently remains the only one in Ukraine certified for research of ion-exchange resins and activated carbon used in water treatment processes.
2007, 2011, 2018, 2020 - certification in the Ukrainian National Certification System.
In 2023, the Laboratory underwent another certification at Ukrmetrtestandart and renewed the list of measurement capabilities for researching water quality (drinking, natural, treated, technological, for swimming pools), research on the properties of ion-exchange resins, activated carbon, membrane elements for nanofiltration/reverse osmosis, and household cartridges.
In 2025, wastewater analysis was added to the list, certificate No. PT - 207/25 dated July 29, 2025.
Currently, the results of the Laboratory's work are used in projects in collaboration with the NGO WaterNet:● "Water quality map" NGO WaterNetThe information is updated monthly in the form of publicly available statistics and annually in the form of an interactive map in your personal account on the websitehttps://waternet.ua/ok ● "Safe drinking water in Ukraine: access to information about water quality and water treatment methods" (2022-2024) , which involved seasonal research into the quality of drinking water sources, followed by mapping using modern GIS software, with financial support from the Finnish Local Cooperation Fund of the Embassy of Finland in Ukraine.● “Safe drinking water in Ukraine: access to information on water quality and water treatment methods” (2024) - technical assessment of water quality and water quality monitoring in Ukraine, conducted by UNICEF, with the participation of the NGO TEAM4UA.
